ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

We strongly believe in equipping our children with reading and literacy skills to give them a strong foundation and head start as they prepare for primary school.  READERKids is a reading and literacy programme for pre-school children aged 5 to 6 years old. The programme aims to help our children cultivate a love for reading and learning from a young through fun and engaging activities and  promoting increased parental involvement in their child’s education.

The programme consist of weekly literacy sessions and monthly reading sessions with fun and engaging activities held over Zoom. There is a low volunteer to children ratio to ensure that each child is given individualised care and support.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Children aged 5 and 6 years old from families with a family per capita income of $800 and below.
  • To qualify for the programme, families must be enrolled in the BLESS Family programme.
  • To continue in the programme, children must fulfil an 80% attendance rate each year.

I’ve had the last two years with KIPERKIDS to truly broaden my outlook on life. Even though sessions are conducted online, I believe I can be the child’s “sister/friend” who is always there for them. Overall, my experience volunteering has been really rewarding since I feel like I’m making a difference in each of their lives.
